Child’s Eye Media, founded in 2004, was the joint brainchild of award-winning television producer Katy Jones and Linda Mort, co-founder of the renowned Early Years Nursery School in Manchester, where Katy’s daughter was a pupil.

Their idea of creating mini-documentaries for young children - short, engaging educational films seen through the eyes of children - was inspired. Katy’s and Linda’s personalities and skills blended perfectly and their productions won numerous prestigious awards, including Best Educational Programme from the Royal Television Society.

The highly successful series of Festivals and Festivals 2, followed by two further compilations based on the theme of People who help us, were widely acclaimed by parents and teachers alike. But above all, it was the children who engaged with the films.

By our reckoning, Child’s Eye products are present in over fifty percent of the country’s Junior and Infant schools, an achievement in which Katy and Linda took great but characteristically modest pride.

However, In October 2013, Linda passed away from cancer and early in 2015, Katy was struck down by a brain haemorrhage. Their loss was and remains incalculable. As their surviving spouses we kept Child’s Eye going, but with deep regret we feel that we can no longer do so, now that the creative spark has gone: they would never have wanted to be seen as just an ‘online shop’.

As what we want to be a lasting tribute to Katy and Linda, we hope to make the films available free of charge on You Tube at some time in the future for many more parents, teachers and, above all, children to enjoy.
